Digital Parenting Week

Digital Parenting Week 2021: 11-15 October
Parents, please join Tech Shock as we kick off the week with a live-streamed event .
We’ll be discussing new research we commissioned from youth-led social enterprise, VoiceBox, looking at what ‘digital wellbeing’ means to young people, with representatives from VoiceBox and special guest Jonathan Baggaley, CEO of the PSHE Association – and some of the issues that need to be addressed
to allow young people to thrive online.

Family Learning w.b. 4.10.21

Current focus: For October and November we will focus on Numeracy and Maths using the resources in the Family Learning maths packs given to all families.

This week we have the following home learning activities on the site;

  • Maths Pack Activity – This week we look at the use of maths in our everyday lives. What can you fit into your week? How do the adults in your family use maths? Have a look at ‘I am a Mathematician’ on the page and your maths pack booklet for lots of ideas.

We will also continue to post the Rights of the Week and the Picture News related to our ‘Thought of the Week’ for families to share at home if they wish to. The children will complete activities in class related to these also.

  • Right of the Week – (Article 3) the best interests of the child
  • Picture News related to ‘How could we encourage people to use public transport more?’

Buggy Walks

Have you heard about Buggy Walks?

They are a free, fun way for mums, dads, grandparents, and carers to meet new people, chat and share experiences on a safe and welcoming walk, led by a trained walk leader. Soirbheas supported by Partnership for Wellbeing are keen to gauge the level of interest for a Buggy Walk in Glen Urquhart for babies and toddlers. Any questions please get in touch with Siorbheas. If you would be interested in these taster sessions please take a moment to complete our survey, either click on this link

Family Learning w.b.27.9.21

Current focus: This month we are focusing on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

This week we have the following home learning activities on the site;

  • Right of the Week This week is our last week with a rights focus. We consider the importance of education and what is important to learn in school. You can let Mrs Laird know what you would change for the better in our school with your magic wand. There’s also a lovely video to help you see education in Chile.
  • Picture News The discussion poster this week links really well with our rights of the week. It looks at disposable masks and our Wonder of the Week ‘Should disposable masks be banned?’ In school before the summer, the children were learning about global goals. What can they recall? They may wish to discuss how this relates to the global goals. More on these can be found on the rights page in the home learning site.
